Simpson Carpenter wanted a brand new web presence to supercharge their growth ambitions for 2024.

The Simpson Carpenter team tasked Vector with a complete redesign of their website with the goal of creating a visually striking and engaging user experience.

They wanted Vector to visually communicate their core specialisms in pharmaceutical, automotive, digital entertainment and technology and retail with a more dynamic and exciting way, reflecting the energy of the sectors and the enthusiasm of the Simpson Carpenter team.

Visual language

It had been 7 years since the previous redesign of the Simpson Carpenter website and the team wanted a completely different look and feel whilst retaining some of the core brand elements.

Vector updated the visual language, taking inspiration from the red circle in the logo and using it as a repeating circular theme for the sector icons, arrow buttons and staff profile images along with the full stops and cursor.

We also introduced horizontal lines, a nod to rules from a notebook – the essential research companion in the field for researchers – and used them to give sections of the pages structure.

Responsive design

The primary goal was to enhance the user experience, improve accessibility, and introduce a responsive design to cater to a diverse user base across mobile and desktop. We created detailed wireframes, allowing Simpson Carpenter to visualise the proposed design ideas and then developed hi-fidelity prototypes so Simpson Carpenter could experience the website before it was built.

Design guidelines

Creating guidelines that could be used across a diverse range of media including social media profiles and posts, presentations and conference banners became a key requirement as the project evolved. So it was important to create a visual language that was versatile enough to be used across different media but also simple enough to be used by staff across the company.

Webflow build

We used Webflow for the build and CMS and it was the perfect platform for the marketing site – enabling us to produce a creative and engaging experience.
