What does SaaS stand for?
SaaS is an acronym for Software as a Service and is the name given to digital products and services which are often delivered online and paid for on a subscription basis - weekly, monthly or yearly.
What is the SaaS model?
The SaaS model is a subscription-based way of selling software where customers pay a regular fee to access and use the software. Usually this is online although a lot of products offer offline usage as well. This is in contrast to the traditional model where software was bought and installed once and then further updates were bought and installed as and when they were available or provided for free by the software vendor. The SaaS model also includes ongoing updates, support, and cloud storage as part of the subscription.
What is SaaS design?
A broader definition of SaaS design includes SaaS branding, SaaS marketing and SaaS product design but here at Vector we focus on the latter when we talk about SaaS design i.e. the process and outputs of designing the digital product itself. This includes the UX research, UX design, prototyping, testing right through to the hi-fidelity interface designs.
What is the SaaS design process?
We use our '4D' process for SaaS design projects: 1. Discovery where we learn about the product, marketplace and requirements, 2. Define the solution with documents, wireframes and user maps, 3. Design with detailed wireframes, hi-fidelity designs and prototypes and then 4. Deliver the project in the form of code or handover to your development team.
What is SaaS in UX design?
SaaS in UX design is the process and output of defining the user experience for a SaaS product. This can include everything from the user login, dashboards, feature UX, payment screens and customer support. This involves user research, creating user journey maps, wireframing, user testing and communicating with product managers, visual designers and development teams.
What is the difference between UI and UX design?
The difference between UI - user interface and UX - user experience design is UI is primarily focussed on the visual look of the product interface and brings together elements of brand such as colour, typeface and styling and marries it with the UX which is focussed on the layout, structure, placement and overall usability of the product.
What skills does a SaaS designer need?
A SaaS designer needs to have a thorough knowledge of UX design principles and combine that with great digital product design skills. The discipline requires thinking about how functional screens can be combined with strong visual designs to create interfaces that are highly usable but also delight at the same time.
How long does it take to design a SaaS product?
As a SaaS design agency we are very experienced at delivering projects at speed. How long it takes to design a SaaS product depends on several factors including how much UX research we need to do, how many screens need to be designed, what level of testing is required and what the final deliverables need to be - design files or code.
How much does it cost to create a SaaS design?
We work with a range of budgets when designing SaaS products and the total cost depends on several factors but primarily how long we spend on activities such as user research, the core deliverables of design and build and then handover time.
What makes you different from other design agencies?
We are a SaaS design agency so we have specialised in SaaS design. Whereas other agencies may well be working across several sectors and be generalists, we have worked specifically in SaaS for the last 5 years and therefore have developed specialised skills and experience for the particular needs and requirements of SaaS design.
